“I became interested in barbering when I was young. I always enjoyed the idea of working with people and helping them feel more confident through a good haircut. My family also inspired me, as some of my relatives work in hairdressing and barbering, which encouraged me to start this career.

Working at Gould Barbers has been a great experience for me. The environment is professional and supportive, and it’s a place where barbers can grow their skills and build strong relationships with clients.

What I enjoy most about working here is the team atmosphere and the opportunity to improve every day. The shops are always busy, which helps you gain more experience and develop your craft.

For anyone thinking about working at Gould Barbers, I would definitely recommend it. It’s a great place to work, the management is supportive, and they respect their barbers and pay them fairly and on time.”

"I’ve been barbering for 15 years, but in the hair industry for nearly 40 years.

I moved from hairdressing to barbering due to wanting to change careers. Barbering has come a long way in the past 15 years: You no longer sit in a chair and get what you’re given.
Styles have changed and there’s a lot more scissor cut styles now and lots of remodels of old styles made modern.


I have worked in many different barbershops and have to say that Goulds is the best.
I originally joined Gould’s back in 2017 when they first opened their Bar Hill shop near Cambridge. It was was quite a bit smaller back then, but it soon became a very busy shop. Unfortunately in 2020 COVID happened and I chose to go mobile and said goodbye to Goulds. I remained in touch and both Darran and Leigh said I’d be welcome back anytime, if I wanted to.


Fast forward 4 years and Goulds Bar Hill had moved into a huge shop, better looking, 10 chairs and spacious. I knew I wanted to return to Goulds and now was the right time.
In January 2024 I was once again a Gould Girl and having brought a fairly large clientele with me, I was quite busy from the get go.


I have absolutely no regrets coming back and hugely recommend working for Goulds: Darran and Leigh have always been gracious and helpful when needed, are down to earth and jump on the tools when necessary.


If you work hard, it's totally worth it….Just like anything really, and luckily, I love my job"

“I started barbering in 2020, and never really felt comfortable in shops I’d been working in till joining Gould september of 2024. Since then, the support and shop vibes were better than I could have asked for. At Gould it really feels as if we are a team and we all want the same goal, of delivering a great service and make people return to us. It doesn’t feel like you’re working for a conveyer belt or a numbers game. There’s a real sense of pride here. I’d recommend working at Gould to anyone who has pride in their barbering and strives for delivering great work.”
